Technical Consultant – Oracle E-Business | £80–93K + 20% Bonus + £6,500 Car Allowance | Hybrid (Watford ~50%)

We’re looking for a Technical Consultant to take on a newly created role that sits at the heart of IT delivery for business-critical back-office systems, particularly around Oracle E-Business Suite and related integrations. There’s real scope to grow this into a wider, more strategic role as the organisation continues to modernise its tech stack.

The Role

You’ll act as the link between business requirements and the offshore development/vendor teams who do the technical build. While you're not expected to code, you will need to understand systems in enough depth to track delivery, question technical decisions, and influence system design.

This is a key role in supporting the modernisation of legacy platforms, improving performance, and helping shape how applications are delivered long-term.

You’ll work with:

  • Internal IT stakeholders, solution designers and architects (not end-users)
  • An offshore systems integrator who handles day-to-day build and dev
  • Technical teams managing integrations between ERP, CRM, SAP and other systems

About You

You’ve likely been hands-on in the past (as a dev, integrator or technical consultant), and while you’ve stepped back from the tools, you haven’t stepped away from the detail.

You should be comfortable working across IT, confident dealing with vendors, and capable of spotting where a solution might not match what the business really needs. Experience with offshore vendor delivery and integration-heavy environments is ideal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into high-quality functional specs
  • Track and manage delivery from offshore vendors, ensuring it aligns with design
  • Review integration design and performance across systems
  • Liaise with architecture and compliance teams on system improvements
  • Support Oracle, SAP, CRM and peripheral system integrations
  • Monitor security and software licensing in partnership with other teams
  • Contribute to planning around system upgrades, migrations and replacements
  • Work on change requests, testing, and documentation (not development)
  • Influence internal tech direction and future capability in Oracle delivery

The Tech Stack

You’ll be working in a back-office tech environment built primarily on:

  • Oracle E-Business Suite – particularly Finance, Leasing, Contracts, and Order Management
  • Some exposure to SAP (e.g. SAP HR, SuccessFactors) helpful but not essential
  • Integration tools including Oracle Cloud Integration, REST APIs, and file-based integrations
  • Legacy applications still in use (but in the process of being modernised)
  • Awareness of app security, compliance, and licensing concepts is useful
  • No need for deep SQL, database tuning, or low-level code, that’s covered by others
  • You’ll also liaise with security and compliance teams to ensure systems remain audit-ready, even if you’re not directly responsible for implementation.
